The Painter

Donald Franklin Dixon

Born in Kershaw County 8-8-51

This is the finished touch of a 168' fence painting upon the pathway. Each section of the wall has a message of inspiration for all that are willing to receive encouragement in their daily life. While receiving the message you can relate to each aspect of Dixon's life and apply it to your own thoughts and ideas. The wall took six-days to paint, thirty cans of spray paint, and a lot of prayer. The wall has also been turned into an autobiographical book. ____________________________________________________________

The first painting ever officially done by Dixon is believed to be an act of Spiritual-intervention

While dipping coke-bottles in paint buckets of various colors and placing the bottles upon a piece of plywood to dry, the wet paint ran down onto the board forming a beautiful, space-like painting. The reason for painting the bottles were to make colorful ink-pen holders to give to visitors while at the Pathway. Dixon was also going to place rolled-up copies of poems within the bottles for people to read whenever possible. On the other hand, God's plan was for Donnie to express his thoughts in art using various styles and colors to convey a message. Dixon has already been taking the gospel of Jesus to others in various ways, in Churches, on street corners, radio and television, books, tracts, cassette and video preaching tapes, prisons, hospitals and now, the Pathway theme park which is located in his own front yard. Art was just an added blessing by the Grace of God so others could receive a message of faith and encouragement in their daily life. Otherwise, God knew the time was right and the results are the Folk Art works of this poet, preacher and now, painter. And isn't it true also that the Lord sometimes works in mysterious ways? Amen to that!

Poets Pathway is no accident! It is a gift for all to see if interested in finding out what all can be done in the life of a person or persons, that are more willing to follow their reasons, rather than their doubts.

Poets Pathway started out as a place for people to come and enjoy the natural surrounding of God's beautiful creation. The original beginning was on August 1, 1995. On October 6, 1995 the first painting became a reality as a gift from God. Now, it's up to Donnie to follow-through with using that gift to reach out and encourage others with the truth!

Every painting and poem produced on the Pathway carries a message of interpretation in relation to everyday life and circumstances. From there, it's up to anyone that will to form his or her own opinion as to the truth that is found within each writing and work of art! The rest will be history!
